Martis Camp
Jennifer and I were treated to a tour of the Martis Camp development on Monday, May 18th, 2009. We were shown around the property and were impressed by its subtle beauty and land use. Here is the next generation of luxury second home living. Tucked into the mountains and surrounded by pristine forest, there is something here for everyone in the family.
The property itself consists of 2177 acres and 653 homesites . It was developed by DMB Highlands, whose Lahontan Subdivision was also well received in the Martis Valley, between Truckee and Northstar. The crown jewels of the amenity package include private access to skiing at the backside of Northstar at Tahoe (the development’s own private lift) and an 18 hold Fazio designed golf course. Some of the other amenities planned are a 50,000 square foot building called “Camp Lodge” that will house activities including spa, clubhouse, casual and formal dining rooms. This building is set to open in the summer of 2011. Construction is almost completed on the “Family Barn,” a more modest structure that will house an assortment of homeowner activity venues. These include an art loft, bowling lanes, summer swimming pool, indoor basketball court, outdoor amphitheater even a nostalgic soda fountain. This facility is scheduled to open in July 2009.
The development is designed to make one feel as if he is at a national park such as Yellowstone National Park, hence the name “Martis Camp.” There are over 20 miles of community trails for hiking and mountain biking. Everything is centered around the Family and the Outdoors.
The project was launched in August 2006 and despite the languishing economy, they have sold 211 homesites to date. Please be sure to contact us for more information on this beautiful project.

2010 Home Tour – Martis Camp
July 1, 2010
It is not often that we get to both benefit the children of Truckee and North Lake Tahoe AND get a glimpse of one of the most exclusive and private subdivisions in the Truckee – North Lake Tahoe area. Thanks to the Tahoe Sierra Board of Realtors and the Excellence in Education Foundation, the Second Annual Home Tour this year will take place at Martis Camp, located in the Martis Valley. The tour this year will feature 6 extraordinary homes. The date is Saturday, August 7, 2010 and the times are from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Tickets for this great event are available at both Keller Williams offices — 10192 Donner Pass and 11382 Northwoods Blvd. If you purchase tickets ahead of time, they are $35 each, at the door they will be $40. The proceeds will benefit quality public education within the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. This should be the Event of the Year!! Come on out and enjoy.

Update on Martis Camp
October 15, 2009
I got my newsletter today from Martis Camp, the newest upscale development out in Martis Valley. The information from it is very informative and positive. Since these lots are all developer sales, they are not on the multiple listing service (and won’t be until they are resales) so we really have no way of knowing what the statistics are except from the developer himself.
According to the developer, 40 properties have sold thus far since the beginning of 2009. 15 of these sales have been within the last 30 days. Over the past 3 years, 225 properties have sold for over $200,000,000. Besides these sales, Martis Camp claims that construction is booming out there also with 30 homes in design review, 35 homes under construction and 7 completed homes.
I haven’t been out to the property since “The Barn” was completed but I understand that the amenity package is coming together quite nicely. The crown jewel this winter will be the dedicated ski lift to Northstar. A homeowner in Martis Camp will not have to even leave his subdivision to go for a day of skiing — doesn’t get any better than that, right skiers? Be sure to give us a call if you want more information on this resort property.
