Martis Camp

May 23, 2009

Jennifer and I were treated to a tour of the Martis Camp development on Monday, May 18th, 2009.  We were shown around the property and were impressed by its subtle beauty and land use.  Here is the next generation of luxury second home living.  Tucked into the mountains and surrounded by pristine forest, there is something here for everyone in the family.

The property itself consists of 2177 acres and 653 homesites .  It was developed by DMB Highlands, whose Lahontan Subdivision was also well received in the Martis Valley, between Truckee and Northstar.  The crown jewels of the amenity package include private access to skiing at the backside of Northstar at Tahoe (the development’s own private lift) and an 18 hold Fazio designed golf course.  Some of the other amenities planned are a 50,000 square foot building called “Camp Lodge” that will house activities including spa, clubhouse, casual and formal dining rooms.  This building is set to open in the summer of 2011.  Construction is almost completed on the “Family Barn,” a more modest structure that will house an assortment of homeowner activity venues.  These include an art loft, bowling lanes, summer swimming pool, indoor basketball court, outdoor amphitheater even a nostalgic soda fountain.  This facility is scheduled to open in July 2009.

The development is designed to make one feel as if he is at a national park such as Yellowstone National Park, hence the name “Martis Camp.”  There are over 20 miles of community trails for hiking and mountain biking.  Everything is centered around the Family and the Outdoors.

The project was launched in August 2006 and despite the languishing economy, they have sold 211 homesites to date.  Please be sure to contact us for more information on this beautiful project.
