Just Another Day in Paradise!!
May 27, 2009
Let’s add this to the “boy am I lucky” list. Boy am I lucky to live in the High Sierras in the springtime!! I don’t care what anyone says about Paris, this is the most beautiful place in the world.
Yesterday I went hiking up 89N at Sage Hen Creek with 2 girlfriends and their dogs (I don’t have one — yet). We took a 6 mile jaunt out to see the beautiful blue lillies out near Stampede reservoir. These flowers only last a short time so there is a real narrow window to view them each year. The trail had been packed over the Memorial Day weekend. My business partner Jennifer said she and her husband travelled it on Sunday and she met no less than 70 fellow hikers along the way. Judging by the amount of cars parked alongside the trail head, Monday was only a little bit less busy. Being locals, we were able to wait until Tuesday when all of our wonderful visitors have returned to their desk jobs in the city. The weather was perfect — about 72 degrees. While we were walking the thunderheads built up and we were privy to the wonderful sound of thunder and a few sparse raindrops.
The creek was roaring and the mosquitoes were biting which is why we didn’t spend too much time in the meadow with them. By the time we returned to civilization, we were dirty and wishing we had a brewski or two in the car (next time for sure). Again, I am reminded how lucky I am to be able to take 2 hours off and be transported to a spot that is untouched by phone and electric lines, road noise — even cell service. I really do have the best of both worlds here.
I will post some pictures tomorrow. I took a few but left the camera at home.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend in your little piece of Paradise. Come visit us in ours!!
