Historic train steams through Truckee

April 25, 2009

truckee-train-015.jpg Last week as I was driving to work I noticed a gathering of people along the train tracks with their cameras, I thought to myself there must be a rock star coming through town, who could it be?  As I came into town the tracks were lined with lots of people which made me think this is big! There were families with small kids, old timers, and everything in between including the dog.  I always have my camera with me so I grabbed it and joined the crowd. I soon learned that a steam engine would be chugging through town and for once my timing was right on.   Aint’ she a beauty!  No. 844 was the last locomotive built for Union Pacific Railroad in 1944.
