Back on the Market Horse Property near Glenshire

November 29, 2008

pud-view-up-driveway-to-bldg.jpg The Old Glenshire Mutual Water District Building located on acreage totaling approximately 4 acres is again available.  This property has a Town of Truckee zoning designation of resource conservation (RC) but also has a minor use permit for a single family residence.  The property is located just outside of the Glenshire subdivision, and is not subject to any homeowners’ association or CC&R’s.  The property is surrounded on 2 sides by other land carrying the resource conservation designation.  There are wonderful views and a huge sense of privacy on this estate sized parcel.  The fact that there is currently an approximately 2800 square foot building located on the parcel that can be renovated into a single family residence makes the possibilities even more inviting.

How Much Can We Afford to Spend on the Bail Out?

November 29, 2008

I have been searching for an answer to this question since everyone started talking about giving out money to bouy up the U.S. economy.  The other most obvious question — “where is all of this money coming from” is also a concern to me.  Well today I picked up an article from the RIS Media website that answered my questions simply and understandably in language I, as a layman, can understand.  The article was formatted in a “just the facts” manner which I am coming to appreciate more and more.  So here is a “primer” by Jack Chang.  Hope it is illuminating to you too!!

California Association of Realtors update 11/20/08

November 21, 2008

This week’s most current take on  Foreclosures statewide (California) was forwarded to me from the CAR website.  Here it is — read it and weep. . . .

FORECLOSURE FILINGS UP 25 PERCENT FROM YEAR AGO
Foreclosure filings — default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions — were reported on 279,561 U.S. properties in October, a 5 percent increase compared with the previous month and a 25 percent increase compared with October 2007, according to recent report from RealtyTrac®. One in every 452 U.S. housing units received a foreclosure filing in October, according to the report.

“We’ve seen sharp declines in new foreclosure filings after legislation mandating delays to the foreclosure process was signed into law in several states — most notably in California, where overall foreclosure activity was down by double-digit percentage points for the second straight month in October, and where default filings were 44 percent below October 2007 levels,” said James J. Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac. “Despite this, October marks the 34th consecutive month where U.S. foreclosure activity has increased compared to the prior year.”

California foreclosure activity in October decreased 18 percent from the previous month, but the state still posted the highest number of properties with foreclosure filings for the month — 56,954. That total was down from a peak of more than 100,000 in August, but represented a 13 percent increase compared with October 2007.

Tacos Jalisco – Truckee, Baja Norte California

November 17, 2008

“Jalisco” is a state of Mexico that is located on the Pacific Coast.  Most of us know it because that is where Puerta Vallarta is located, just south of Nayarit and north of Michoacan.  It has been my experience that there are a lot of really good things that come out of it.  Lots of hard working Mexicans, and lots of great food.  Here in Truckee we have the most authentic Mexican restaurant called “Tacos Jalisco.”  These guys (or more than likely mujeres) started this restaurant in a little portable taco stand in a parking lot in Truckee.  Their trailer lasted until the Town told them they had to leave and instead of pulling up stakes, they put down roots in a little spot located on Donner Pass Road, across from the DMV and in the same center as the 7-11, next to the laundromat.  Here the jefes serve the most authentic Mexican food (in my humble anglo opinion) in Truckee.  You can order in Spanish and they don’t give you a hard time, in fact, they like it!!  Check out my friends and I last weekend having great food, reasonably!!
